Why Is Emotional Intelligence Important?

Emotional intelligence isn’t the sole predictor of human performance and development potential, but it is proven to be a key indicator in these areas. A person with high emotional intelligence can understand and manage their own emotions, as well as recognize the emotions of those around them.

This is an important skill for a leader, because it helps them:

  • Understand how the current mood or environment can impact decision making
  • Be open to other perspectives
  • Gain the confidence of their team

Emotional intelligence is also not a static factor — to the contrary, one’s emotional intelligence can change over time and can be developed in targeted areas. This is why the EQi 2.0 assessment is so valuable.

"As part of my individual development plan, I began working with Joan as the next step in honing my skills as a leader. The tools she used to guide my development, specifically the EQ Assessment, have provided invaluable insights about myself that I will continue to draw upon for many years to come."
